On Friday, February 14, 2025, the Chemistry Education Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta organized a webinar titled "Eye-Tracking as a Feedback Tool in Education." This event was part of a webinar series that attracted over 280 participants, including students from UIN Sunan Kalijaga, students from other universities, lecturers, and high school teachers. The webinar featured a speaker from Justus-Liebig Universität Giessen, Germany, M. Axel Langner, who delivered an engaging presentation on the application of eye-tracking technology in education.
The webinar began at 13:30 with an opening by the MC, followed by the national anthem "Indonesia Raya," the recitation of the Quranic verses, and welcoming remarks from the Head of the Chemistry Education Program, Dr. Paed Asih Widi Wisudawati, S.Pd., M.Pd. The event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.
After the opening session, the event proceeded with the presentation by M. Axel Langner, who discussed how eye-tracking technology can be used as a feedback tool in the educational process. This topic sparked great interest among the participants, who were eager to understand how this technology can improve the effectiveness of feedback for students.
The webinar continued with a discussion and a Q&A session, where participants actively asked questions, further enriching their understanding of the use of eye-tracking technology in education.
The event concluded with documentation of the session, guided by the MC. While the webinar ended, the impact of the event is expected to continue. As part of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training's efforts to enhance the knowledge and skills of students, lecturers, and teachers, initiatives like this contribute significantly to the development of educational quality, particularly in the field of chemistry education.
The sustainability of this event is also reflected in the potential for further collaboration with international institutions like Justus-Liebig Universität Giessen, as well as the development of training programs or workshops on eye-tracking technology that can positively impact education. In this way, the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training at UIN Sunan Kalijaga is further strengthening its position as a hub for innovative educational technology.
Overall, this webinar not only provided new insights for participants but also opened up opportunities for further collaboration in research and the application of technology in education, which will undoubtedly have long-term benefits for the development of education in Indonesia.
